New Ed Mega Conference 2020!!

The North Carolina Association of Educators (NCAE) invites new educators to join them on October 23rd and 24th at the "Virtual New Ed Mega Conference" for discussions on equity in education. The conference will feature guest speakers from diverse backgrounds to lead conversations on implicit bias, social emotional learning, trauma and resilience, anti-racism and more! Sign up to be a Math tutor with Heart Tutoring 

 Volunteering with Heart Math Tutoring is a fun, effective way to make a difference by working virtually with students each week.  With the support of a Program Coordinator, volunteers use an easy-to-follow, proven curriculum featuring interactive activities and games. 21 TFA staff and alumni tutored during the 19/20 school year and we are looking to get more involved. PATCH Program

PATCH is a healthcare pipeline program targeting Title 1 high school students in CMS. Participants learn how to conduct and present scientific research, shadow healthcare professionals, and engage in other personal and professional development experiences. We are working to actively recruit sophomores to enroll in the program with applications due December 1st. We need your help as we are unable to go to school sites this year to recruit in person. 2021 BES Fellowship: Seeking Charlotte Leaders

BES (formerly Building Excellent Schools) is a national nonprofit that identifies and prepares excellent leaders to transform education in their communities. Through training with BES, leaders learn how to build new schools in high-need areas, ensure their schools excel, and sustain their results over time through ongoing leadership development and instructional and operational coaching. BES is seeking applicants for the 2021-22 Fellowship to bring high-performing schools to Charlotte, NC.  Join the BES Fellowship and make an impact where it's needed the most. Fellowship applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, with an early application deadline of November 1, 2020. We urge serious candidates to submit an application today.

Coleman Lew Canny Bowen, an executive search and leadership development firm, has been retained by SwimMAC Carolina (also known as Mecklenburg Aquatic Club) to find its new executive director. SwimMAC is a nonprofit swim club that offers programs for people of all ages and skill levels. With two locations across the greater Charlotte area, SwimMAC Carolina serves over 2,000 people annually through learn-to-swim programs for beginners, competitive age-group teams, and adult Masters groups. Alumni Opening Peak Academy in Asheville - hiring literacy specialist

Catherin Lordi (Missippi Delta '03) is working with a team of community members in Asheville to open a new charter school to address Asheville's achievement gap.  It was approved by the NC Dept of Ed Board in March and is slated to open next August 2021. They have hired a school leader, and have just listed a job posting for a Literacy Specialist position that will begin in January 2021 to help shape our teaching and learning plan and assist our Director with recruitment, enrollment, and teacher hiring. Outschool supplemental income for teachers & direct benefit to Lakota Nation

Outschool is an online education platform that needs teachers like you to create classes and courses that students (ages 3-18) can join. If you sign up to teach, you’ll choose your content, schedule, and price to charge per class. You’ll receive direct, supplemental pay for every online Outschool class you teach.  Classes can be just one session, short-term, or even on-going.  For every teacher who signs up using this referral  link and has a class approved for students enrolled. Outschool will donate $150 to the Lakota communities, and for every 50 teachers who sign up using this referral link and create approved classes, Outschool will donate an additional $5,000 to the Lakota communities. We have the opportunity to make a huge difference for kids in the Lakota communities, especially in our current Covid-19 landscape.
